Section: 10.24.060 Permit
A. The commissioner, at his discretion, upon application in writing
and if good cause appears, may issue a special permit in writing, authorizing the
applicant to operate or move such equipment or vehicle or combination of
vehicles or special mobile equipment, or to use corrugations on the periphery
of the movable tracks on a tractor, or, under emergency conditions operate or
move a type of vehicles or equipment otherwise prohibited hereunder upon any
highway under his jurisdiction.
B. The application for any such permit shall specifically describe the
vehicle or equipment and the purpose of the movement, the particular highways
over which the permit to operate is requested and whether such permit is
requested for a single trip or continuous operation.
C. The commissioner is authorized to issue or withhold such permit at
his discretion, or if such permit is issued to limit the number of trips or to
establish time limitations or to prescribe such conditions of operation to
assure against undue damage to road foundations, surfaces or structures and may
require such undertakings or other security as may be deemed necessary to
protect the highways and bridges from injury, or to provide indemnity for any
injury resulting from such operation.
D. Every such permit shall be carried in the equipment or combination
of vehicles to which it refers and shall be open to the inspection of any peace
officer or traffic officer or authorized agent or employee charged with the
care or protection Of Such highways.
E. It is a misdemeanor for any person to violate any of the terms or conditions of such permit. (Ord. 205 § 6, 1951.)
